Some genera of mosquitoes (Aedes, Ochlerotatus, and Psorophora) have visible cerci on their abdomen.  The other genera (Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Culex, Culiseta, and Uranotaenia) have blunt, rounded abdomens with no visible cerci.
