
Anopheles punctipennis, like all Anopheles, does
not have a siphon.

The inner hairs on the front of the head of punctipennis
larvae are simple and separated by less than the diameter of 1 tubercule
(tubercule cannot be seen here, they need higher magnification). The outer
hairs on the front of the head have multiple branches, and are hard to see due
to the fact that they are right above the mouth brush. In the picture, it
is the lighter hairs by the left arrow.
