Mirela Tulbure (Doctoral student, 6/1/2004 - present) Thesis research: Phragmites australis (common-reed) is a cryptic invasive species in North America. Because it forms dense monospecific stands it is considered a threat to wetland biodiversity. Human activities with subsequent disturbances, nutrient increase, changes in water levels and, more recently, the introduction of an invasive haplotype from Europe are some of the causes responsible for its expansion. |
