Start of day 2. In the morning we woke
to the delightful breakfast of Bread, Fruit, and Cereal. Of course we eat
enough to survive, but it is not the most appealing breakfast.
Then we walked down to the classroom for
our first formal lesson. Prairie plants. We spent about 3 hours walking around.
So
our feet were tired afterwards.
After that we had a lunch of sandwiches
and fruit and snack food.
Afterwards we did a formal class of
water sampling. We test tested the Green water to see how far we could see it.
The girls got in but the boys were afraid. The
water was fine I don’t see why the boys didn’t get in.
We then had the delightful dinner of Casserole
hot meal. We then goofed around until 11. End of day 2.
Start of day 3. Today we woke to the awesome breakfast of
cereal and yogurt. At 9:00 we went down to the classroom.
We waited a half an hour. Finally we got
started on prairie birds. We set up the nets, and went inside.
We
then went down to the nets and we had caught 2 lest fly catchers and one common
yellow throat warbler.
I held one lest fly catcher.
After we did that we had herd that there was 2
more birds in the nets. We then had lunch after we banded the birds.
We had sandwiches. I had a turkey,
mayo, and provolone cheese sandwiches.
We then went to go to the lake and do
the aquatic insect adaptations.
Afterwards we
swam for a long time. I found 11 clams!! When we got back we walked to take a
shower. Afterwards we had dinner.
It was fried chicken and potatoes wedges.
We then went to the classroom to work on our projects. End of day 3.
Start of day
4. We woke to the excellent breakfast of yogurt. At 9 we walked down to the
classroom. We had the lesson of catching bugs. I caught a beetle, a large
dragonfly, and a damsel fly. We then walked back to the classroom. We pinned
some of our insects.
We then went to have lunch. I had another
sandwich!
We used goldenrod that made an
excellent yellow. We also used choke cherries. That made a watery reddish,
pinkish, maroon color. We put the rubber bands on our cloth and put them in the
colors.
Now that we had done that we headed
back to the classroom. We now have trapping. We set a turtle trap. Also some
mouse traps. We then had the dinner of Pizza or everyone else did, I didn’t because
there wasn’t any that I liked. So I had 2 granola bars. We then went down to
the classroom to work on our projects. End of day 4.

5. We started the day at 7:15 doing yoga with Mary. Mary is a girl here at the
field station. We then had the appetizing breakfast of yogurt.

classroom and dissected owl pellets. I found a rodent scull. We then had dinner
and went to bed.
