Science Camp

Day one-I got here at 4:00 and Bryant was here with his family and we met each other. Every one introduced themselves at about 6:30. I told everyone my name (Taylor) and I told them I prefer to be called Sam. We made supplies that we will need this week like, secchi disks, bug boxes, and bug catchers. After all that we went and had sloppy joes and went to sleep.

Day two- Today I woke up from a night of not having a sleeping bag, (it slid off my bed) and I was a little cold but I was all right. I woke up know I had kitchen duty with Brendon todayL…. For breakfast I had lucky charms! We went to look at a lot of plants with Dr.Larson. As we were walking back to the class room I found a little frog!! I named it Fred!

I collected a lot of plants to press. As we were going down the hill to look at more plants I fell and cut my knee. Later we had sandwiches for lunch witch chips and juice boxes. After we did an experience with a GPS. It was fun! Then I Maddie and Sadie were the only people who went swimming in the lake this evening. Then for a nice warm meal we had tator tot hot dish and for dessert we are having root beer floats.

Day three- Today I woke up and Bryant was up. Like he said he was the night before. That night Kendra for got how to set her alarm on her watch, so she asked Bryant. After our normal breakfast we went out and caught some birds, 6 birds to be exact! We tagged their left legs and then left then go. I got to have one in my bag and I named it Fred! Here is a picture of me letting Fred leave my life. Buh-by!

Anyways later we had lunch. Then we went to the north side of the lake and swam got aquatic animals and also went on a boat. Afterwards we swam and got back to the bunkhouse and took showers. Then we had a nice hot meal. Chicken with potato fries were really good. Then Mary (a girl who has been here for about 2 mouths sampling things) made us no bake cookies and then we came here and started typing our blogs.

Then we caught our own and labeled them and then we put them in a box. We appreciated him helping us with that. Then it was lunch time. We had the same, sandwiches. After lunch we went and pick Missouri goldenrod and choke cherries to make dye for our bandannas

Then we had to go set a trap for turtles. The hill on the way back up was hard!  After we got back we set our own little traps with peanut butter. We will check them tomorrow. For dinner WE HAD PIZZA! I only had 3 pieces. Brendon was so happy for the pizza to come.

Day five-last day- Hey, today is the last day. This morning I woke up and as usual ate breakfast. Then we headed to the lab and met Jerry. He showed us woody plants A.K.A. trees. We had fun. Then we checked our traps. Bryant, Brendon, and Douglas all caught something. Me unfortunately did not even get a nibble. Then we went to check the turtle trap. Something broke the cage. Me and Laura (the girl that set the trap) suspected a muskrat broke out of it. Afterwards I helped Laura clean off the algae on the trap.

Later that evening we dissected owl pellets. That was a cool experience. Then we had spaghetti for dinner.
