Faculty Research Opportunities Grant - 2008
What: Oak Lake Field Station (South Dakota State University) will offer a $3000 grant for faculty research.
Research Topics: Research should focus on topics directed
toward the Oak Lake Field Station Mission - To increase the understanding
and appreciation of the
- Surveys of Flora and Fauna
- Effects of Prairie Fire on Flora and Fauna
- Plant-Animal Interactions
- Competitive Interactions Among Species
- Phenological Changes in Flora- and Fauna
- Life-histories and phenologies
- Historical Land-use/Land-cover
- Pre-settlement History
- Settlement History
Where: Research must be conducted at Oak Lake Field Station. All field and laboratory activities
related to the proposed effort must be conducted at the Oak Lake Field
Station. Proposals with significant
field or laboratory activity at other locations (including campus laboratories)
will not be considered.
Proposal Application and Guidelines:
- A proposal should be submitted together with the application form (below) no later than April 1, 2008.
- Research must be conducted at the field station. No campus or offsite research will be considered for funding.
- Research funding will be awarded in May and will terminate one year from the award date.
- Two copies of the final research report with accompanying raw data must be submitted no later than April 1, 2009.
- Two copies of all published abstracts and manuscripts resulting from this research must be submitted to the field station director.
