Some genera of mosquitoes (Aedes, Ochlerotatus, and Psorophora) have a pointed abdomen with visible cerci at the end of their abdomen. The other genera (Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Culex, Culiseta, and Uranotaenia) have blunt, rounded abdomens with no visible cerci.
