Aedes, Ochlerotatus, and Psorophora Species


                            


           Has narrow basal banding on its legs.  The

           pale scales on its abdomen are shaped like

              the letter "B." Proboscis is unbanded  

                  .......................Aedes vexans
 

           Has apical and basal banding on its legs.  Almost 
          entire body covered in pale scales- this gives it the

           appearance of being snowed on.  Dark scales on 
            abdomen look liketriangles on either side of the 
        median longituginal stripe........Ochlerotatus dorsalis

      


            Some species have very broad

                 banding on their legs.

                          Notice the large erect scales on its legs,
                        these give the mosquito a "shaggy" look.
                       The outer half of the proboscis is covered
                       in yellowish scales........Psorophora ciliata
