Aedes, Ochlerotatus, and Psorophora

                                               

             Appears yellow-brown, or black and white on

              abdomen.  Scutum has a pair of submedian,

            pale-scaled stripes, separated by a dark strip in

           the middle.  The pale-scaled stripes do not reach

                        the border of the scutum

                         ...................Ochlerotatus trivittatus

         Abdomen appears silvery-white and brown

     or black.  Scutum has a longitudinal dark-scaled

      stripe down the middle with pale-scaled stripes

    along either side of the scutum that extends to the

            borders of the scutum on either side

                   .....................Ochlerotatus triseriatus

                                      

             Abdomen and femur have a dark blue or

            purple reflection.  Scales on wings and legs

                dark............Psorophora cyanescens

                Smaller than Aedes vexans.  No defining

                characteristics.  Brown in color.  Similar

              abdominal markings as Oc. triseriatus and

             Oc. trivittatus, but does not have noticeable

              pale stripes on scutum.......Aedes cinereus
