Biochemistry Research Associate Position Announcement

Available: Immediately 

Salary/Benefits: 32,000-$36,000/year depending on qualifications and experience plus fringe benefits

Description:  This Research Associate position offers the opportunity to participate in various research projects focused on gaining a greater understanding of infectious diseases and methods for their prevention.  The successful candidate will contribute to these projects through devising and executing strategies for the purification of naturally expressed and over-expressed protein antigens, and the development of assays for assessing their presence or purity.  In addition, this person will provide training in the area of her/his expertise to graduate students and other individuals as required.  Opportunities for conducting independent research within the scope of the research center are available. 

Qualifications:  An M.S. degree in biochemistry, chemistry, or related area; and prior laboratory experience. Candidates whose previous research has been published in refereed international scientific journals will be given preference.  Preference will also be given to candidates with demonstrated expertise in protein purification and characterization techniques including chromatography, polyacrylamide electrophoresis, immunochemical detection techniques, and protein over-expression systems.  In addition, the successful candidate must also demonstrate effective written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
