OVERVIEW - Since Spring 2000, our Gross Anatomy Internship Program has provided opportunities for over 700 highly-motivated students to experience what it is like to teach in a lab environment and to dissect human cadavers. Employers and/or Admissions committees like to see that future employees and future professional students have invested time and effort in their communications skills and can also demonstrate fine hand-eye coordination skills (e.g., dissection).

A short laundry list of things expected from our interns are listed below:

1. Demonstrate competency in all lab exercises & materials
2. Assist the GTA in all aspects of the laboratory program
3. Assist in the set-up and take-down of laboratory demonstrations
4. Contribution to cadaver dissection and presentation
5. Contribution to the set-up/grading of one laboratory practical
6. Proctor one Lecture examination as schedule permits
7. Proctor one Practical examination as schedule permits
8. Powrpoint Presentation and written abstract concerning some aspect of Clinical anatomy
9. Attend weekly meetings & presentations

Many of our Interns also volunteer to lead tour groups of High School students through the Gross lab and provide demonstrations of the cadavers and pathology collection - We encourage Interns to lead tours for their own High School Science courses when ever possible. Applications for this Internship will be announced/requested during the 12th week of each semester.
